Achi Ko is an abstract strategy game based on the traditional Akan game called Achi (a game that is similar to Tic Tac Toe or 3 Men’s Morris).
It is a 2-player game played on either a 3×3 or 5×5 board where players attempt to create a row with their pieces either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally.
The game has 2 phases: the Deploy phase and the On-board phase.
When the game starts (the Deploy phase), a random player is picked as the starting player. Each player puts their game pieces on an empty slot on the board in an attempt to make a row (3 pieces in a row for a 3×3 board, or 5 pieces in a row for a 5×5 board).
When all the pieces are placed on the board and no player has made a row, the next phase begins (the On-board phase).
During the On-board phase, players move their pieces to a free adjacent space in an attempt to make a row.
The game ends when a player makes a row.
